Training some teams here at Microsoft UK today on the beauty of social media, I asked some of my Twitter followers to tell me why they use the micro-blogging service so I could pass the wisdom on.
One of the first questions I always get asked when training is “Why should I be using Twitter?”
I suppose it depends on the kind of person you are, but some people either get it straight away or need a little encouragement.
The reasons cited by the sharing/caring guys above encapsulates the essence of why Twitter is a fantastic medium for learning, engaging, discovering, communicating, supporting and being supported, enthusing and being enthused.
And all in real time!
Twitter isn’t the be and end all of our existence. I’m all about finding a balance in our digital versus real lives (see this Seth Godin post), but there’s no denying it has untold benefits and sets the benchmark for how we’ll gather information and disseminate it going forward.

Can I also add reach, breaking down corporate walls, and putting a ‘friendly’ face (or voice) to an impersonal company. Plus of course LISTENING. It’s important to us to know what people like / don’t like and what they expect from us.
I think twitter is majorly useful for get your questions answered, to find latest news and to promote your business! However, I think it depends on the people’s choice of using this micro blogging service :).
