Microsoft Windows 95 TV Ad – We’ve Come Along Way

This is the Windows 95 TV Ad that ran all those years ago – quite different from last week’s I’m A PC Ads

It’s a lot more “in-yer-face-does-exactly-what-it-says-on-the-tin” type stuff but you can’t beat a bit of Jagger to get the blood pumping and the imagination racing.

That was 10 years ago though, and I reckon we’ve moved on and are more sophisticated in our message expectations.

There’s more device choice in the market place and more of a variety in HOW we communicate and connect.

Some commenters in the blogosphere have said they like it that the new commercials are not aggressive and finger-pointing in nature.

Others like the fact that they don’t exude an elitist attitude.

Personally I like them because they show real people, in real environments, doing real things.

How refreshing!?

I’m A PC – Microsoft TV Ads 2

I’m watching as I upload these and laughing my head off!

The final line of this one is what I’ve felt like saying to soooo many people soooo many times – now I can! 🙂

No Women In The Tech Rich List!

Bill Gates heads up the richest people in tech according to TechCrunch!

But where are the ladies?

Any tech conference I’ve been to has had strong and impressive women speaking and driving thought leadership, so am I opening a can of worms by asking why there seems to be none on the big time pay rolls?

Awesome New Windows Live Update!

The Windows Live team have just announced a series of cool product updates to the Windows Live suite of products and services!

  • Windows Live Messenger
  • Windows Live Mail
  • Windows Live Photo Gallery
  • Windows Live Writer
  • Windows Live Family Safety
  • Windows Live for Mobile
  • Windows Live Movie Maker beta

I especially like the new Live Writer update which includes:

  • Enhanced video publishing features where you can publish videos more easily on Soapbox on MSN Video or YouTube.
  • Enhanced Photo editing features while you’re writing your post!

I’d say the new ads Part 1 and Part 2 from Microsoft are working from the comments on TechCrunch.

Last week I clamoured for patience and the debate rages on!

One things for sure – the ads are being talked about – if they’d just rolled out some “Windows does blah blah blah!” copy, how impressed would have we been with that?

Advertising is getting more sophisticated – let’s embrace it!
